Because responsible packaging is not just recyclable, it must also be efficiently recycled. And all of us, citizens, consumers, brands, suppliers and public authorities, are concerned by this necessary shift of our linear model towards a virtuous circular model Image Responsible packaging is a mindset which requires agility, commitment, cooperation and transparency. These values drive Albéa Cosmetics & Fragrance’s RECYMakeUp initiative, winner of Citeo and Adelphe’s call for projects in 2022. "Our main priority is to improve the recyclability of cosmetic packaging in our industry. As one of our many activities in this field, we are currently collaborating with Citeo on eco-designed packaging. Our RECYMakeUp project aims to replace non-recyclable materials with recyclable materials such (PP, PET) for mascara, lip gloss, lip stick or compact packaging with a two-fold objective: design packaging for recycling, and drive innovation forward by sharing best practices with the entire industry. We are also working with Citeo and industry partners on the SuperPE project, to improve the recycling of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) products" commented Gilles Swyngedauw, VP CSR and Product Sustainability for Albéa Cosmetics & Fragrance. As a member of RecyClass and Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) committees, Albéa Tubes takes an active part in reinventing how plastic packaging manufacturers contribute to the circular economy at industry level. Looking at our innovative and responsible tube offer, the Greenleaf solution is certified recycling-ready in the rigid HDPE stream, in both in Europe and USA. “In three years, Albéa Tubes and its customers have contributed to reduce by half the quantity of non-recyclable aluminum barrier laminate (ABL) tubes on the market. In 2023, our responsible Greenleaf tube, certified by Recyclass and APR, will make up over 30% of our sales*” said Aude L., Albéa Tubes CSR & NPD Manager.
