Image 3 questions to Rozenn Nicolas & Aurélie Jego, members of Albéa Plouhinec’s Management Committee Who are you ? Tell us more... RN: Trained as a plastic processing engineer, I have worked mainly in the industry. I am passionate about material transformation. I like to see how an « ordinary » material like plastic is concretely turned into a luxurious and beautiful object. I see myself as a craftswoman, driven by team spirit, a taste for challenge and a quest for aesthetics. As a woman, I feel particularly legitimate to understand the use of cosmetic packaging and enhance materials and products, to serve beauty. AJ: I started at Albéa 6 years ago as a Continuous Improvement Manager. I moved to Production Manager and now Industrial Operations Manager. The cosmetic industry is constantly evolving: products are created and disappear, technology changes. This pushes us to constantly question what we do, reinvent our methods and organization. Every day brings enriching experiences and unlimited learning opportunities. I find it challenging and stimulating. What is your experience like as a female leader in the industry? AJ: Economical, human and environmental challenges have emerged from the current context. Our mission as managers is to support team members so they can anticipate these changes, and to adapt our organization and management tools consequently, ensuring a certain level of efficiency and profitability. Female leaders have always been challenged in terms of know-how. We must now prove we are able to drive change, and adapt every day to the expectations of our customers, employees, leaders and market. RN: Being a female leader in an industrial environment still raises questions today in society. There are still preconceived ideas about women in technical professions. In the industry, women must overcome several barriers. Given the same scope and responsibilities, they must go further than men to get the same spontaneous recognition. Once proven, women gain long-term recognition that is not questioned based on gender. The way we look at women in Industry and in society has evolved. Skills matter more than gender. How do you envision the evolution of diversity & inclusion in the workplace? RN: We do not need to link ambition with pressure. On top of often carrying the household’s mental load, women must free themselves from the limits set by their education, society and the environment where we live. We must own our experiences, our skills, our contribution and anchor the fact that we make a difference, as much as men. Beyond gender diversity, I wish to promote cultural diversity as a source of performance and enrichment in teams who aim at solving problems in innovative ways and finding creative solutions. AJ: Team spirit is what drives me. Supporting employees in growing professionally, and growing our company, resonates with the spirit of continuous improvement. My goal is to gather team members in a healthy, safe environment, where excellence, joy and solidarity set the pace. I want to create the conditions for everyone to come to work with a positive mindset. In a factory it is important to give meaning to decisions. I believe in « bottom-up » collaboration. Encouraging all employees to share their opinions and experiences is a precious source of improvement and human value. I make it a point to share a common vision to my team. To build it, we revisit failures and successes. This empowers us to prepare the future with a share roadmap which we pilot together: “If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” Image Video file
