Scope This position is responsible for providing technical troubleshooting and overcome production and/or quality problems involving materials, processes, product, equipment and tooling. Increases in line output and improved quality are also concerns of this position. Main activities • Assist manufacturing departments in process and/or quality problems to determine root cause. Initiate corrective action by redesigning new or altered processes, tooling, and equipment and/or introducing new or altered materials. Implement and follow up to insure changed made are effective. • Partner with the Quality Department in the investigation of customer's problems in processing our product, and relate these problems to revisions of in plant functions. • Perform quality and/or process capability studies of equipment and processes to assist in solution of quality problems. Assure conformance to specification, and assure optimum levels of spoilage consistent with customer quality requirements. • Recommend ways and means for reducing manufacturing costs and/or excessive losses. • Assist in other engineering projects as deemed appropriate by the Technical & Quality Manager and Engineering Manager, such as vendor evaluation, customer visits, equipment and quality audits, Good Manufacturing Practice inspections, etc. • Champion the Lean To Win efforts by supporting the operations with current practices and implementing additional benchmarking improvements to the CI program. • Diagnosing and correcting quality problems on product to eliminate the possibility of customer complaints and rejections • Revising existing specifications and provide a better final product • Support Lean to Win through leading groups, participating in projects, analysis and execution of recommendations. • Train others on best practices within the business group. • Support the production floor in the critical technical areas to focus on speed attainment, spoilage reduction, prep speed and REE improvements. • Follow A3 methodology to define actual performance of Changeover • Constantly update changeover standard. • Define baseline of changeover time by tube spec. (Color, Diameter, length) • Set target of changeover time • Identify actual gaps between targets and current condition. • Lead SMED events and standardize the changeover process • Coordinating with the tool crib department • Support quality department in investigating Internal and External Batch Block (IBB and EBB). • Guarantee training across the entire shift on any LSW and SPL using TWI training system • Active participation and contribution on Plant KPI’s • Identify Value stream mapping on any new initiative Accountability including KPIs • Guarantee process optimization from inception to completion. • Guarantee source of improvement in existing equipment is identified and focused on cost efficiency. • Guarantee standards are set in tool and gage design that promotes production flexibility while reducing change over times for assigned projects. Profile (Experience & qualifications) • BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred or the equivalent manufacturing Process Engineer experience • Knowledge of CI and Six Sigma programs a plus • Must be familiar with validation and design of experiments • Project Management experience • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills • Excellent problem solving skills • Must be a logical thinker capable of making decisions which are accurate and data driven • Experience with Solidworks software • A Green Belt or Black Belt Certified. • Knowledge of typical quality control program and RCA. Basic knowledge of plastic extrusion and injection.
